As your president for 2011, I wanted to have a theme that everyone could relate to, regardless of where they were on their speaking journey. I wanted something that would inspire members to continue to focus on building their business and their success. In the end, it was really quite obvious. My theme and desire for all members is to Get More from their NSAA membership and from their business.
This doesn’t mean sit back and expect your business to multiply overnight. What it means is how can we as an organisation and you as our members work together to Get More for you.
This year we ride on the shoulders of giants as we continue to improve the offerings and events from NSAA. We are fortunate to kick off the year with Ed Primeau showing us how to get more gigs using video. This a special breakfast and morning session that I hope you can attend.
From February we resume our monthly meetings on the third Monday of the month at Melbourne’s Hilton on the Park. We are thrilled to have Glen Capelli and Dennis Walters to kick us off for the year. In March we have the National President Tony Ryan visiting. He will speak to us about Transformational Leadership and how to get better at what we do.
We will then have some icons of the Australian Speaking industry to help you Get More from your NSAA membership and your business. Winston Marsh showing you how to be a better marketer of what you do than a doer of what you do, Paul McCarthy showing you how to sell from the platform and we are in discussions with other CSP’s, CPAE’s and high profile speakers.
In April we have the National Convention; one of the highlights of the NSAA year. With an amazing list of speakers and many opportunities to meet with like minded people, the benefits of being there are huge. The best bit is that it is in Melbourne – so no accommodation or airfare costs!!
Speakers Academy is on again this year. If you want to give your business a Qantum Leapfrog boost, this is for you. Be immersed in the experience and core competencies of NSAA while forming strong bonds with your peers and boosting your business.
You can also take advantage of the regular newsletter to discover what is happening in NSAA around Australia and our Special Interest Groups to really hone your skills in that niche.
This year we also wanted to provide you with more opportunities to mix with your peers and share your wisdom in an informal atmosphere. We have plans for a regular Presidential Breakfast where you can come and have coffee or breaky while chatting with other members who turn up. We are also looking at Yum Cha sessions. Chew on and Chat about something different.
National are also continuing their Webinar series where you can get access to the top speakers and their experience. This all adds up to a magic 2011 full of ideas, information and support to help you Get More from your business.
For those of you who don’t know, the best way to book your monthly meeting is to use the ‘autobook’ service. Members can register their credit card details with National Secretariat who each month will automatically bill your credit card at a special rate. If you need to miss a meeting – no problem, just let the secretariat know a week before and you will not be charged.
I look forward to a great year at NSAA. Your Senior Vice President De Backman-Hoyle, the soon to be announced Vice President and I look forward to serving you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can do anything for you.
