Kerrie Nairn Scholarship 3 Month Report
Friday the 28th of March 2008 was a very special day for me.
That night after being announced as the 2008 recipient, my head was
spinning with excitement of what the Kerrie Nairn Scholarship was going
to bring to my speaking career. In last 3 months, I have been working
very hard and putting in many hours developing my message and delivery.
I am now focused on the messages I want to deliver and have been using
new innovative techniques during my presentations.
During June I attended the Thought Leaders Immersion Program in
Sydney which was of great benefit. During this program I was encouraged
to discover the unique life experiences that I have had and how to use
these to develop my style into a unique product.
I was also lucky enough to attend the June NSAA PM and CSP
Summit in Sydney. This was a full day of mixing with fantastic NSAA
speakers and I took home some fantastic new tools and ideas.
July will see me attending NSAA Speakers Academy which I am
really excited about. I’m sure that by the end of this my message and
delivery will be powerful and memorable.
I’m looking forward to see what I achieve in the next 3 months under the scholarship so stay tuned!

Kerrie Nairn Scholarship 6 Month Report
The last 3 months have been very busy. I have broken into some new speaking markets and I am gaining good speaking engagements across the country and overseas.
I have also been training for an unusual activity, Skydiving! On the 24th Oct 2008 I completed the first ever solo paraplegic skydive in Australia proving that the sky is no limit for me!
I have also organised a trip to Singapore where I will be receiving some speaker coaching from the current President of the Asian Professional Speaker Assoc Me Christian Chua. I will be addressing the members of the APSA during their November chapter meeting.
I now also have my website www.daleelliott.com up and running thanks to the Scholarship so please drop past and watch my latest videos and subscribe to my newsletter! I’m off to get my knees into the breeze!
Have fun! Dale Elliott
Kerrie Nairn Scholarship 9 Month Report
It has been a high speed last 3 months of my life researching and developing a new set of Extreme-D programs for 2009. It has not been easy but with the support of NSAA it’s been very fulfilling.
Landing in Singapore at the new #3 terminal, it took me 8 minutes from aircraft door to taxi door and I knew that it was the perfect start to a 3 day whirlwind trip. I met with Christian Chua, a professional speaking coach and Asian culture guru. He passed on a huge amount of relevant and accurate information about speaking in Asia and operating a speaking business in Singapore. I spoke at the Asia Professional Speakers monthly meeting and met some amazing speakers who have made successful speaking businesses in Asia. A very worthwhile trip!
Most of my research has been around what it takes to get yourself motivated, not just a little bit, not just a reasonable amount, but by an EXTREME amount! What does it take to keep that level of motivation going until you have reached a goal?
I have now completed 4 solo skydives. That is 3 minutes worth of freefall at 200 kmph. With only half of my body helping me stay in control, this is pushing me to my personal extreme limit. I’m hitting the red line of what I am capable of doing physically. Or am I? You see, during those 3 minutes, I have re-calibrated and re-zeroed my capability meter. Next year I’m going to hand cycle 5000kms with another NSAA member Andreas Dagelet. We will be heading off from Melbourne and arriving in Darwin some months later. This is going to push me physically even further up the gauge and I will probably re calibrate and set sights for another extreme target. Why have I started to do these things? Why have I started to motivate myself so much?
Have you ever arrived at a time and place in your life where you felt like you could charge forward with a feeling of content? It’s a great feeling to have that’s for sure. This is how I feel at the moment. I have a focused market with a relevant message and I’m ready to hit the execute button. How have I arrived to this point in my life?... because I was the recipient of the Kerrie Nairn Scholarship.
This scholarship has allowed me to pull the stops. It has given me the confidence to attack. It has woken me up to a life purpose and most importantly, it has cracked a shell that I have been struggling to get out of for many years.
I’ll hopefully see you at the 2009 NSAA Sydney Conference where on Friday night I will be summarising my scholarship year to the audience. If you have or are considering applying for the scholarship this year, good for you. See you in Sydney, come and say “Hi” and set me an extreme task to do. I’m up for it.
